Harvey B. Bartley, 88, Russiaville, passed away at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at his home. Harvey was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Tomkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Ralph and Maude (Murray) Bartley. His marriage to Carol J. Shanks was on July 16, 1949, in Kokomo, and she survives.
Harvey was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School. He was in the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant. He served during the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star with Valor. He worked at AT&T, formerly Indiana Bell Telephone, for 32 years. He was a member of the NRA, VFW, and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed shooting sports, hunting, and fishing. He loved his many German short-haired bird dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Bartley; son- and daughter-in-law, Rick (Pat) Bartley; grandson and his wife, Landen (Misty) Bartley; great-grandchildren, Kaden, and Kelsey Bartley; a sister, Mary Lou (Paul) Bennett; sister-in-law, Dee Bartley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Maude Bartley; a brother, Tommie Bartley; and two nephews, Jeff Bennett and Brian Bartley.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Steve Cole officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum. There will be military rites provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo Military Rites team. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, also at the funeral home.
