Gary Sumpter, 56, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.
He was a native of Howard County, and a graduate of Taylor High School in Kokomo. He then joined the U. S. Air Force and retired as a C-5 Galaxy Crew Chief. After leaving the Air Force, he enrolled and then graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He was a certified public accountant for Pearl River Resort, Depot Fun Center and Sudden Services, all in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
He was a member of Jerome Christian Church in Greentown.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Tina Sumpter; his two special pets, Dallas and Indy; parents, Robert and Susann Sumpter, Greentown, Indiana; brothers, Greg (Melody) Sumpter, Greentown, Indiana, and Michael (Rhonda) Sumpter, Panama City, Florida; one niece; and seven nephews.
