First Lady's Story
First Lady Katherine Sue Woodard, 64, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. Katherine was born April 22, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Susie Cooks, Kokomo.
Katherine was employed by Delco Electronics UAW Local 292 for 30 years. Katherine loved Zumba, working, traveling, fishing, and skating. Her No. 1 LOVE was being grandma to her 10 grands.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Pastor Jack L. Woodard; son, Jack L. Woodard Jr.; daughters, Cassandra L. Woodard-Campbell (Donald) and Angela R. Woodard; brother, Edward Cook; nieces, Ebony Brent and Tawanda Herron; special niece, Gloria Herron Carr; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Shakiyla, Leeandrew, Kia, Darryelle, Keeshum, Ja'Brean, and Na'riyah Jo; two grandchildren, Isaac and Nasir; godchildren, Raven Mack, Chanel Small-Addison, Kenneth Snow Jr., LaMondreon Warren, Tonia Carroll, Rocheta Harris, and Calvin Harris Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Leora Herron and Bertha Cooks; godson, William Granville Collier; and goddaughter, Desiree' MeKal Glenn.
Viewings will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Straitgate House of Prayer and a First Lady's Homegoing Service will begin at 6:30 p.m., officiated by a host of first ladies. An additional viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Grace Memorial Institutional Church of God In Christ. Service will begin at 11 a.m., following visitation, with Bishop Charles E. Woodard officiating. Final resting place will be Crown Point Cemetery.
