Esther Doris Ferguson


Esther Doris Ferguson, 91, of Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019 at Northwoods Village. She was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Franklin, Indiana, to the late George Dunn and Goldie (Roberts) Dunn. She married Roy L. Rich Jan. 20, 1945, and he passed away April 19, 1976. She later married Dempsey Ferguson in 1977.
Esther came from a family of 10 children. She was a twin to David, who passed away in 1949. She grew up in Gnawbone and Nashville, Indiana. She was a stay-at-home mom until later in her life, when she became an in-home caregiver. Esther enjoyed this work tremendously and had lasting relationships with those she cared for. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Kokomo and a member of Bethel Holiness Church in Columbus, Indiana, where she sang solos, managed flowers for the altar, and calling on shut-ins. Esther enjoyed flower arranging and writing limericks. Esther traveled to Belize with her church and enjoyed trips to North Carolina and Florida.
She is survived by one son Larry Rich (Janet), three daughters, Saundra Osborne, Jeannie (Clark) Townsend, and Debra Bean; six grandchildren, Steven (Jen), Connie, Matthew, Joshua, Heather (Kevin), and Trevor; nine great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers.
Services for Esther will take place Monday September 9, 2019 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Center, Indiana at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bryan Line officiating. Friends and family may gather from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery.
