Ellen Mason Freeman Coombs, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at her home. She was born July 19, 1921, in Elwood, to Renzie and Floda (Willhoite) Mason. On Aug. 15, 1942, she married Ralph Freeman, who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1970. Ellen married Cleatus Coombs on Dec. 23, 1971, and he preceded her in death April 30, 2001.
Ellen retired from Delco Electronics in 1982 after 25 years of service. She was a proud homemaker who took excellent care of her home, especially tending to her yard. Ellen enjoyed stained glass crafts, painting, sewing, quilting, travel, and getting together with family during the holidays.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Debra Freeman, Kokomo; granddaughters, Erin (Eric) Crump, Ridgeville, Holly (Steve) Sturgeon, Fort Wayne, and Liza (Aaron) Arnett, Maumee, Ohio; and great-grandson, Ethan Crump; sisters, Marilyn Lightle, Marion, and Jeanenne Norwood, Merritt Island, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and siblings, Anna Hill, Marie Wyant, Owen Mason, and Edward Mason.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Tim Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
