Edna Ruth's Story

Edna Ruth Holsinger Graham Blocher, 89, Flora, died at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at a hospice center in Dayton, Ohio. She was born April 29, 1928, in Colburn, Indiana, to the late David and Estella Boyd Holsinger. Her first marriage was to Zellar Graham on Jan. 1, 1956, in Bringhurst, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1965. She then married Floyd Blocher on Oct. 16, 1983 in Rossville, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2010.
She attended the former Ervin School in Howard County and later received her GED. She then graduated from the Kokomo School of Nursing with her LPN degree. She was a homemaker and helped her husband, Zellar, on their farm. After his death, she worked as an LPN for St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo for 14 years. After her marriage to Floyd, she was able to return to the care of her home. She was a member of the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. She and her husband, Floyd, wintered in Lakeland, Florida, for many years. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, quilting, and loved to read.
Surviving are daughter, Zelpha and Roger Flora, Lewisburg, Ohio; son, Douglas and Becky Graham, Bringhurst; stepdaughter, Runella and Donald Hufford, Rossville; stepson, Marion and Beulah Blocher, Flora; eight grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; 20 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Flory and Alice Cline; five brothers, Elmer, Harry, David, Otho, and Lloyd Holsinger.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. Funeral service there will be at 10 a.m. Friday, with home brethren officiating. Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Abbott Funeral Home Inc., Delphi, is in charge of arrangements.
