Edna's Story

Edna P. Cody, 99, has passed to her heavenly home Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Wellington. She was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Claibourne, Tennessee, to William Sherman and Sarah (Yeary) Eden. In May of 1939 Edna married Roy L. Cody, and he passed away June 29, 1997.
Edna went to the Brown School in Tennessee and enjoyed learning so much she took eighth grade twice as she wanted more schooling but it was not offered after eighth grade. Edna loved gardening, flowers, reading, shopping and going to garage sales. She loved to watch TV ministers and was a member Forest Baptist Church. Edna worked at Kmart, Montgomery Ward and National Seal. Edna never looked her age and never told her age.
Edna is survived by daughters, Norma (Jim) Daugherty, Wanda (Bill) Martin, Sandra (Lee) Sines, all of Russiaville, Judy Rule, San Diego, California; two sisters, Virgie Scott and Glenna Bea; two brothers, John Amos, Junior (William Sherman Jr.); grandchildren, Darlene (Bob) Hensley, Douglas Meyer, Marla Caldwell, David Meyer, Michelle Tharp, Jennifer (Simon) Ladd, Derrick J. Martin; stepgranddaughter, Kelley (Duane) Carter; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Meyer, Allison (Chase) Richardson, Lincoln Caldwell, Alicia (Dustin) Wilder, Brianna Sines, Eva (Levi) Ladd, Ian Martin; stepgreat-grandchildren, Ross and Kaitlin Carter, Read and Kara Aaron Carter, Riley Carter and Reagan Carter; great-great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ethan Burkhead.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sarah Eden; husband, Roy Cody; sisters, Vivian Ada, Kay Fern, Frieda Lenora, Hazel Faye.; brothers, Aaron William , Maye Martha, Tony Ray, Eugene Rubin; grandchildren, Alexander Milner, Kyla Gwen Martin, Jessica Martin, Danika Tharp; great-grandchildren, Katie Jean McGill; and great-great-grandson, Tristan Cole Meyer.
Private funeral services will be Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Russiaville Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.stoutandson.com.
