Earl Lee Eaton, 93, Sparta, Tennessee, formerly of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Life Care Center, Sparta. He was born May 11, 1924, in Argus, Indiana, to the late Garvis Harry and Ethel Mae Powers Eaton.
He was a professional engineer with degrees in several types of engineering. He had a Purple Heart with the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the invasion at Normandy. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golf and fishing in his younger years.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Roler Eaton; sisters, Janet Cage and Donna Richards.
Survivors include his son, Eric Eaton and wife Fonda, Cookeville, Tennessee; daughter, Deborah Louise Fenstermaker and husband William, Kendallville; son, Ethan L. Eaton, Grand Prairie, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan C. Eaton, Todd A. Eaton, Scott Fenstermaker, Trevor Fenstermaker, Kelly Masters and Rebecca Elrod; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ellie, Abigail, Audry, Alivia, Reid, Lucy, Megan and Trevor; sister, Joyce Butcher; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with entombment to follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Monday until service time at the funeral home.
