Douglas E. Phifer, 60, Kokomo, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at his residence. Douglas was born Oct. 15, 1957, in Tipton to his parents, Sherman and Dolores (Bragg) Phifer.
He is survived by his mother, Dolores; brothers, Randy Phifer and Michael (Alice) Phifer; sister, Sue Phifer; niece, Rebecca Wright; and stepniece, Colleen Pope.
Douglas graduated from Northwestern High School, Class of 1975. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Orange County, California, and Operators Engineers Union Local 12. Douglas went on to work as a commercial truck driver until health declined.
He enjoyed motorcycles, race cars, playing golf, watching movies, but his greatest joy in life was family and friends. Douglas was a member of the Moose Lodge 1902
He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman E. Phifer, and his best friend, Donald L. Bottom Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, all at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, with Pastor Erwin Early officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.
