Doris L. (Bridges) Yager Lantz, 97, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Century Villa, Greentown. She was born to Erman and Elsie Bridges on Oct. 24, 1920, in Jerome, Indiana. She married Wilson P. Yager in 1938, and he preceded her in passing Nov. 12, 1993. She then married Charles E. Lantz in 1994, and he preceded her in passing Jan. 15, 2002.
Doris was a 4-H Howard County leader in the Ag Extension Office for years and a leader of the Howard Township Girls Blue Ribbon 4-H. She had been a member of the Extension Homemaker's Club since 1939. She was also a member of Braden Castle Association, Bradenton, Florida, and the Castle Club. She attended Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church. Doris served as a secretary for the county schools superintendent until consolidation. She went on to work at the auditor's office until she retired as the last deputy of the Howard County Clerk of Courts Office. She loved crafting, volunteering at Century Villa to do crafts with the residents. She was also a great cook. Doris enjoyed traveling with her family. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Jack) Crawford; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Trina) Yager, Jill (Doug) Tellefson, Scott (Faye) Buckrop, Randy Buckrop; daughter-in-law, Joyce Yager; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Thomas Yager, Anna Buckrop, and Aria Martin; stepchildren, Mike (Joyce) Lantz and Steve (Lynn) Lantz, Susan (Dennis) Bailey; brothers, Robert Bridges and Fred (Margaret) Bridges; sisters, Dorothy Horner and Julia Starks, Connie (Glenn) Erb; several nieces and nephews; and many stepgrandchildren.
Doris was preceded in passing by her parents; her husbands; her son, Jerry Yager; brother, Ed Bridges; sisters, Jean Notobartolo and Stella Harmon.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. March 1 at Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church, 5051 E. 400 North, Kokomo, IN 46901, with visitation an hour prior. Doris will be laid to rest in Kokomo Zion Church Cemetery.
