Doris I. Updegraff, 89, of Kokomo passed away on February 2, 2018.
She was born on November 1, 1928 in Calumet City, IL, the daughter of the late Hall and Bessie (Reynolds) Ford. She graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, IN and went to work for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. On August 25, 1951, she married Dale E. Updegraff who preceded her in death on July 6, 2013. They began their family in Richmond, IN and also lived in Pasedena, CA.
After moving their family to Kokomo in 1965, Doris worked as a secretary/bookkeeper and retired from the Kokomo-Center School Corporation in 1990 after 20 years of service. She was a member of Morningstar Church and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), School Belles, and LIFT Bible. She also was a former Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman.
Doris is survived by three children, son Daniel (Connie) Updegraff of Kokomo, Daughters Joyce (Mark) Ogden of Greenfield, IN, and June Dice of Kokomo, grandchildren Brian Updegraff stationed in the UAE with the Air Force, Heidi Updegraff of Kokomo, Kelsey (Michael) Rowe of Greenfield, IN James (Alyson) Dice III of El Paso, TX, Sarah Dice of Batesville, IN and 2 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Family will receive friends February 7 from Noon -2pm with services to follow at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN. Pastor Jeff Russell with New Beginnings Church will be officiating. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
