Doris's Story

Text size

Doris Elaine (Miller) Kopeschka, 57, Kokomo, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 12, 1961, the daughter of Charles W. Miller and Sue (Waggaman) Miller, who survive. On April 14, 1979, she married Brian Kopeschka, who survives. This year would have been 39 years of marriage.
She was a 1979 graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked at the Original Treasure Mart and enjoyed working as a para-professional at Kokomo-Center Alternative School. Most recently she was a homemaker.
Doris enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with anything they ever asked for. They will remember having the best Christmas stockings that usually overflowed into a second bag. She loved her lunches with her grandson, Ethan, to Steak-n-Shake. She had a huge heart and would drop everything to help a family member or friend in their time of need. She loved taking vacations - anywhere with a beach to walk on and good seafood and crabcakes. She enjoyed going to lunch and shopping with her friends, feeding birds and squirrels in her yard, as well as watching NASCAR and the Olympics.
Along with her husband, Brian Kopeschka, Kokomo, she is survived by her children, Joshua Kopeschka, Kokomo, Amber (John) Granson, Darlington; grandsons, Ethan England, Elijah Granson, and Tyler Granson; brothers, Chuck (Greg) Miller Jr., Fort Myers, Florida, Kerry (Carolyn) Miller, Kokomo, Terry (Suzanne) Miller, Kokomo; sisters, Pandy (Susan) Miller, Kokomo, Sam (Rick) Driver, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Bill Duncan officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
