Donald Ray Turnpaugh, 73, Kokomo, passed away at 9:28 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. He was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Kokomo, the son of the late Meredith and Wanda Mae (Kelly) Turnpaugh. On Jan. 12, 1968, he married Elizabeth Ann Keith, and she survives.
Don served with the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967, earning the rank of airman second class. He was employed with Davis Mail Service as a part-time truck driver for the United States Postal Service. Don also worked for Steel Slitting in Elwood and for Decker Truck Line in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1976, and was trained in the ministry by his good friend, Frank Noble. Don loved the ministry and enjoyed helping others in any way he could, along with fishing, basketball, water skiing and reading.
Along with his wife, Elizabeth, Don is survived by his sons, Donald Jr. (Tina) Turnpaugh, Jason Turnpaugh, and Andrew (Emma) Turnpaugh; grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Dustin, Ashton, Andrew Jr., Haylie, and Dakota; siblings, Larry (Janice) Turnpaugh, John (Jeanne) Turnpaugh, and Margaret Stiles.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mattie Mae Hackle.
The family would like to give a special thank you to American Legion Post 415 in Galveston for their generosity.
Visitation with the family will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Kingdom Hall, 2317 Zartman Road, Kokomo, followed by a service at 3:30 p.m. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation. Messages of condolence may be left online at

I loved uncle don he gave me away at my wedding .he was like a dad .i wish some one would have told me i would have came .please forgive me because i didnt know about it being yesterday .love you all

Very sad to hear of Don's death. My sincerest condolences to the family. Thank you for mentioning my Grandpa Noble. Like Don, he was a good man. Love to you all, Liz.

My deepest condolences goes out to the Turnpaugh family. I have so many fond memories. Don and John was like Brothers to me throughout my childhood.
