Donald Lee "Luke" Purvis Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017. Donald was born to Donald and Violet Purvis on Oct. 15, 1961. Luke enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his brothers and sisters in Christ at the Church of Christ at Grissom, where he was a deacon.
His hobbies included building motors for pulling tractors and trucks, attending tractor pulls and watching friends at the dragstrip. He enjoyed helping others with automotive repairs.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Elaine Purvis; his five children, Aaron J. Purvis/Liza, Tyler, Texas, Aerial D. Purvis, Tyler, Texas, Bobby C. Lilley, Peru, Matthew A. Campbell/Hope, Greentown, Indiana, Ashley Terrell/Isaiah, Tipton, Indiana; grandchildren, Lexya, Luca Purvis, Trinitti, Tatum Purvis, Brayden, Adrian, Andrew Lilley, Ayden, Avery, Adeleigh, Ainslee Campbell, Emily Ashby, Owen Jaxon Terrell; sister, April/Steve Adkins, Converse; brother, Kenny Bowsman, Converse, Michael /Cheryl Purvis, Marion, Tina/Dan Larimore, Converse, brother, Timothy Purvis, Converse; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and a grandson.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ at Grissom, 1461 Matador St. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, officiated by Terry Carter and George Faull.
Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ and/or the Donald "Luke" Purvis Family through the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
