Dennis Keith Latz, Sr., 73, of Kokomo, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born Sep. 14, 1944, in Logansport, to the late Robert & Marjorie (Reading) Latz. On Sept. 5, 1992, he married Shirley Barnett and she survives.
Dennis spent his younger years in Logansport, but graduated high school in Citrus County, Florida. When he returned to Kokomo, he worked for Superior Auto Parts until he retired from full-time work. After that, he kept himself busy working for Maple Crest Apartments doing maintenance and drove a special needs bus for Western School Corporation and the Spirit of Kokomo until he fell ill. Dennis loved his Yamaha Venture Motorcycle and touring the county on it. He was the State Director for Rider Motorcycle Club and was a classic car nut. Above all, Dennis loved his family and friends.
Along with his wife Shirley, Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis (Joanna) Latz, Jr., Adams, Tennessee, and Chris Grandstaff, Logansport; step-son, Calvin "Ed" (Kelly) Hunt, Kokomo; along with several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a niece, Gwen Hamilton, Logansport and a nephew, Donnie Wilson, Logansport, who he considered his own children.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Charles Riley officiating. Private entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-12 pm Monday at the funeral home.
