David's Story

Text size

David "Dave" Edward Williams completed his battle with melanoma cancer Saturday, May 13, 2017. He fought the good fight and finished the race, achieving the ultimate prize. He had kept the faith to the end. 2: Timothy 4:7.
Dave was born Jan. 12, 1943 in Greentown, Indiana, to his parents, C.C. "Bud" and Juanita Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Lushin-Williams, married May 11, 2013; children, Bart E. (Sherry) Gilbert, Wendee M. (Troy) Gilbert, K. Erik (Christine) Gilbert. Dave is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael (Charde) Barrett, Theresea (Phil Harris) Barret, Carson and Franklin Reed, Christopher Isom; and great-grandchild, Piper Barrett.
Dave worked at Delco Electronics for 35 years as an electrician and a supervisor of skilled trades. He worked his way from maintenance to senior purchasing manager. He was a longtime member of the Greentown Masonic Lodge 341 and the Greentown Lions Club. He owned Williams Electric and later opened Care Lawn & More LLC.
His hobby was working and being with his family. Dave loved sports of all kinds and eating out in good restaurants. During his three-year membership with Planet Fitness, he enjoyed a weight loss of 95 pounds.
Dave was a longtime member of Crossroads Community Church, being very involved with the Singles Group, leading an all ages and areas recovery group. As their construction manager, he built three homes from the lumber cleared near the church ground to dedicate them as Marriage Retreat homes for church members. Dave also served as the elementary Sunday school teacher.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, with a time for sharing beginning at 4 p.m. at the family residence. Attire is informal as Dave would have been.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Crossroads Community Church "Serve Kokomo Project." Dave was a huge supporter of this fund, which consists of over 41 churches to help strengthen community ties financially through home and business projects.
