David Lee Nelson, 77, Kokomo, passed away at 8:08 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. Born May 19, 1940, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Claude Nelson and Alice (Mote) Nelson. In 1958 he married Nancy Jo Stiner. She preceded him in death. In August 1991 he married Laura May Denham. She preceded him in death in October 2005.
He was employed with Ortman Drilling for over 35 years before retiring. He enjoyed playing guitar and fishing.
Survivors include one son, Jason A. (Tricia) Nelson, Tipton; two daughters, Natosha Nelson and Lorrie (Greg) Paul, both of Kokomo; his companion, Jean Brown, Kokomo; one brother, Jerry Nelson, Kokomo; one sister, Louise Nelson, Kokomo. There are also several grandchildren, including Sheila (Harvey) Wilson, Sonia (Justin) Halbrook, Marina (Jeremy) Catt, Mylan Nelson and companion Raychel Keller, Maren Nelson and Grayson Boonstra. There are also several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first and second wives.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Dave Welsh will officiate. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Howard County. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
