David B. Eller, 93, Plainfield and formerly of Kokomo, transitioned into eternal life at 1:48 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Cumberland Trace Healthcare in Plainfield. He was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Ervin Township, Howard County, to Charley A. and Faye (Brubaker) Eller. On Feb. 2, 1964, he married Jane Carol Dow, and she survives.
David graduated in 1942 from Ervin High School, where he was a varsity basketball player for three years. He was a farmer all of his life and a partner in Eller Grain Enterprises. He was also a substitute mail carrier and school bus driver. David was an avid sports enthusiast, following closely Purdue basketball, Purdue football, Cincinnati Reds baseball, Indianapolis Colts football and any sport in which his grandsons participated. He became an enthusiastic golfer after retiring from farming at the age of 67. He was a member of the Faith Church of Christ in Burlington.
In addition to his wife, Jane Eller, he is survived by his son, Alan Eller; daughter, C. Lynn Powers; grandsons, Devan and Damian Eller; brothers, Robert (Joan) Eller and Charles (Marilyn) Eller; sister, Pauline Eller; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold (Marjorie) Eller and Richard (Marion) Eller; and sisters, Catherine (Harry) Dishon and Mary (Samuel) Smith.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to Faith Church of Christ, 1701 S. Michigan St., Burlington, IN 46915.
