David Allard Brewer, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 8:54 a.m. Feb. 10, 2018, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Speedwell, Tennessee. He was the son of Jesse H. and Elsie (Shiflet) Brewer. On April 2, 1968, he married Gloria Brewer, who survives.
David served with the United States Navy from 1963 to 1985, earning the rank of lieutenant. He retired from Genentech after 20 years of service as a utility operator supervisor. He also worked for Pendleton Correctional Facility. David attended Bethel Tabernacle Church of God, and was a member of the American Legion Post 6. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
David is survived by his wife, Gloria Brewer; children, Rogelio J. Brewer and Roselyn (Timothy) Dalton; step-son, Federico (Edith) Mendoza Jr.; grandchildren, Marcus Dalton, Matthias Dalton, Dereca Mendoza and Edward Mendoza; sisters, Dorothy (Pete) Wood and Pauline Pearson; and brother, Charlie (Jill) Brewer, along with several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse H. and Elsie Brewer, and sister, Lola Sue Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Branstutter officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
