Danny "Dan"'s Story
Danny "Dan" M. Vandiver, 70, Kokomo, passed peacefully at home at 3:50 p.m. March 2, 2018.
Dan was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in Conran, Missouri to his parents James "Carl" and Genevieve (Jeffries) Vandiver.
Dan married Naomi Gannon on March 3, 1984, in Kokomo.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Naomi; sister, Judy K. (Dave) Ramsey; brother, Greg (Betty) Vandiver; stepdaughter, Tammy Brooks; three granddaughters, Shelby Carpenter, Sierra Carpenter and Cheyenne Brooks; one great-granddaughter, Sofia Sue Sanchez; two nephews, Bryan and Drew Ramsey; and two nieces, Elizabeth Green and Savanna Moore. He is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews and many loving cousins.
Dan graduated from Fairmount High School, class of 1966. He served our nation proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from service, he began his career with General Motors, and retired after 30 years of "dedicated" service. He enjoyed being outdoors, vegetable gardening and riding his golf cart. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his loving family and friends, especially the family reunions. Dan and Naomi enjoyed every day together relaxing at their humble abode.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Carl" and Genevieve, and special aunt, Martha Ray Taylor.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital with envelopes available at the mortuary.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, with visitation one hour prior and Wednesday March 7, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. with Pastor Steve Branstutter officiating, all at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Sharpsville Cemetery.
