Corum's Story

Corum D. Keck, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 12:42 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Goin, Tennessee, to Jefferson Winfield and Laura (Gray) Keck. On July 16, 1948, he married Dora Walker, and she survives.
Corum graduated from Tazwell High School in Tennessee in 1945 and served in the United States Army during World War II as a paratrooper from 1945 to 1947. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1952 and went on to work for Stellite for 21 years. He also owned and operated Keck Tire & Muffler in Greentown until his retirement. He loved gardening, taking care of his lawn and fishing with his two buddies, Vern and Gene. He was a longtime coach of Indian Heights Little League and was a member of the Taylor Lions Club and a longtime member of Macedonia Christian Church, where he served as teacher and elder.
In addition to his wife, Dora Keck, he is survived by his four sons, Jerry (Susan) Keck, Rick (Linda) Keck, Jeff (Becky) Keck and Randy (Natalie) Keck; grandchildren, Sarah (Jay) Goolsby, Laura Keck, Carrie (Jake) Perkinson, Jake (Candice) Keck, Joey (Lindsay) Keck, Roman Keck, Nic Keck, Corleone Keck, Adam Keck, Paul Keck, Sam Keck, Tyler Keck and Ellyn Keck; great-grandchildren, Josiah Goolsby, Emma Perkinson, Abbie Perkinson, Chloe Keck, Owen Keck, Molly Keck, Max Keck, Moses Keck and Corbyn Keck; nephew, Mike Keck; and niece, Margaret Dickey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Homer, Edward and Bryan Keck.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Macedonia Christian Church, 1532 S. 500 East, Kokomo, with Pastor Rick Keck officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
