Connie's Story

Connie Sue Quackenbush Torivo, 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017. Connie was born Feb. 14, 1952, in Bedford, Indiana, to William Walker Quackenbush and Winnie Margaret Ira Hill. On Feb. 28, 1970, she married Victor Torivo.
She was a 1970 graduate of Kokomo High School. In 1980, she accepted Jesus in Morning Star Church. She was a member of Christian Life Fellowship Church for 36 years. In 2001, she retired from Delco Electronics.
After retiring, she and her husband traveled to Washington, District of Columbia, Virginia Beach, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and the Outer Banks. She was greatly loved by her in-laws and they taught her how to make wonderful Mexican food. She loved to camp and was a member at Sports Lake Camp Ground in Marion.
She loved her family very much and enjoyed them in her home. She loved gathering with people in her home and at the campground and was always very happy to feed them. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and gardening. She supported and had many missionaries in her home, to include Youth With a Mission and Sri Lanka. She was always giving to a cause that was dear to her heart. She enjoyed Christmas lights and would travel to see beautiful displays of lights. She collected old pictures and researched genealogy along with several cousins. She enjoyed bus trips to Tea Party rallies, Niagara Falls, and Grand Cayman Island, Cozamel, and Jamaica. They also traveled to Florida, South Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Mexico, and Texas. Victor Torivo was her favorite person and best friend. She cherished God's Word and constantly prayed for her family and people throughout the world.
Connie is survived by her husband, Victor Torivo; daughter, Heather Hursh; son, Ryan Neil Torivo; four grandchildren, Zachary Tygart, Megan Hursh, Evan Hursh, and Samual Torivo; two great-grandchildren, Arie and Aubri Smith, sister LuAnn Smith; half-brother, William Wade Quackenbush; half-sister, Melissa Hill, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Minnie Catron; and brother-in-law, Fernando Z. Torivo.
Connie was preceded in passing by parents, William Walker Quackenbush and Winnie Margarete Ira Hill; stepfather, Elmo Hill; sister, Linda Zoll; father in-law, Fernando R. Torivo and mother in-law Margarita Torivo.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, IN 46902. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, also at the mortuary, officiated by Pastor Mike Buck. Connie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden.
