Clyde's Story

Clyde E. Hood, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at his home. He was born the youngest of 11 children on Dec. 22, 1949, in Tipton County. He was the son of Marion Clemens and Maudie (Dodson) Hood. On Nov. 1, 1986, in Kokomo, he married Charlotte Burton, and she survives.
Clyde served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart from injuries sustained during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2003 from Chrysler Corp. after 30 years of service. Clyde was a member of UAW Local 685 and the Harley Owners Group since 1998. He loved riding his Harley along with his wife, traveling to the four corners of the United States and 38 states in between. Clyde was very meticulous about his lawn, making the Chevron pattern was an all the time big deal.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; his five sons, Michael, Christopher, Shawn, Harley and Kevin; many grandchildren; one great-grandson; his three sisters, Gladys, Hazel and Sara; along with a plethora of nieces and nephews.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jessica; six brothers; and one sister.
A visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. A celebration of life gathering will follow at his son Harley's house. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
