Clay  Kirby


Clay Kirby, age 86, Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Funeral services for Clay Kirby were conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tennessee, with the Rev. Rick Dennis and Elder Brent Hall and officiating. Interment was in the Galen Cemetery with military honors. Willie Ray, Jason Kirby, Grahm Dennis, Luke Dennis, Will Dennis, and Garrison Hughes served as pallbearers.
Silvie Clay Kirby was born on Friday, March 10, 1933, in Lafayette, Tennessee, one of 13 children born to the late Connie D. and Minnie (Blankenship) Kirby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Caylynn Mroczek; brothers, C. D., Cody, John, Paul, Jake, Larry and Roger Kirby; sisters, Lorraine Payne, Nancy Burdette, Linda Knyra, Evelyn English, Margie Hall; and special brother/nephew, Philip Lynn Stringer.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea, as an engineer. He worked at General Motors for 30 years as a skilled tradesman.
Clay is survived by son, Klay and wife, Cathy Kirby, of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Sylvia Hutton, of Nashville, Tennessee, Anola and husband, Rick Dennis, of Kokomo, Indiana; beloved niece, Angela and husband, Willie Ray, of Lafayette, Tennessee; grandchildren, Benjamin Kirby of Kokomo, Indiana, Joshua and wife, Teresa Kirby, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Grahm and wife, Sarah Dennis, Will Dennis, Luke Dennis, all of Kokomo, Indiana, six great-grandchildren; mother of children, Shirley Moore Kirby, of Kokomo, Indiana; special sister-in-law/niece, Lorraine Stringer of Kokomo, Indiana; brother-in-law, Terry Hall, of Goodlettsville; sister-in-law, Linda Kirby Overstreet; and a host of nieces and nephews.
