Clarence Omer Monroe, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at his residence. Born Nov. 21, 1932, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Warren M. Monroe and Mary Jane (Parrot) Monroe. On Jan. 27, 1989, in Kokomo, he married Betty Harper. She preceded him in death in 2001.
He was employed by Chrysler in casting for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 1166. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and going to breakfast with his buddies at The Breakfast House.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Tricker, Kokomo, Helen Ann Jenks, Rhode Island; two stepsons, Anthony Stalhood, Florida, and Terry Jones, Kokomo; a granddaughter, Mandi Greer; also several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Carolyn Jewell; two brothers, Arthur and Raymond Monroe; two sisters, Phyllis Hadley and Frances Tochternan.
The family would like to thank Shelby and Dawn of Great Lakes Caring for the excellent care given to Clarence.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor James Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
