Chester L. Brantley

Chester L. Brantley, 94, Kokomo, passed away at 10:28 p.m., Friday August, 9, 2019, at his home. He was born April 10, 1925, in Kokomo, the son of the late James Harvey & I. Fern (Crousore) Brantley. On December 8, 1973, in Bloomington, he married Janyth E. Martin and she survives.
Chester was a graduate of Kokomo High School. He served with the United States Navy as a signal man during WWII and earned the Purple Heart. Chester retired as a foreman from the Kokomo Chrysler Casting Plant in 1992 and previously worked for K & S Department Store. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and loved Gospel music.
Along with his wife of 45 years, Janyth, Chester is survived by his sons, Robert (Linda) Brantley, Barry (Toni) Brantley, Michael (Kris) Brantley, and Paul (Rhonda) Brantley; step-children, Kelly (Joyce) Krise, and Karla (Luis) Quiroz; 25 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Lee (Elma) Brantley; and sister-in-law, Grace Brantley, along with several nieces and nephews.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Brantley; and grandchildren, Tina Brantley, Morgan Brantley, and Thea Winston.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington Street, Kokomo with Dr. Garey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
