Carolyn J. "Jane" Goerges, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 9:07 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Evansville, to Melvin A. and Dorothy (Edmonds) Stephan. On Jan. 20, 1962, she married James R. Goerges, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, and he preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2014.
Jane graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1960 and attended William Woods College. She taught painting and ceramics classes at Forest Park Hobby Shop and the Country Cottage for 30 years before retiring in 2004. She enjoyed various crafts, mahjong, dominoes, working puzzles, playing on the computer and reading. She was a member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, the Red Hat Society's local chapter, Latte Ladies, and the Salem United Church of Christ in Evansville.
Survivors include her son, Kurt A. Goerges; granddaughters, Mickayla and Taylor Goerges; brother, John (Gay) Stephan; brother-in-law, Wayne Adams; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne Adams; and an infant son and daughter.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
