Brad's Story

Brad VanMeter, 38, Kokomo, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born Oct. 27, 1978, in Indianapolis, the son of Jimmie and Sue (Cook) VanMeter. On March 29, 1998, in Kokomo, he married Heather R. Martin, and she survives.
Brad was a mechanic by trade but was best known as the neighborhood mechanic. He loved motorcycles and old school trucks. In his free time he enjoyed the TV show, "Street Outlaws."
Along with his wife, Heather, Brad is survived by his children, Katelyn VanMeter and Tyler VanMeter; brothers, Jimmy (Chrissy) VanMeter, Timmy VanMeter, Bruce (Nichelle) VanMeter and Thomas (Jay) VanMeter; brother-in-law, Derek (Shannon) Hanley; sisters-in-law, Sheena Hanley and Ashley (Phillip Smith) Hanley; several nieces and nephews; and parents, Jimmie and Sue VanMeter.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Cory VanMeter.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
