Betty L. (Warnock) Young passed away at 10:06 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. She was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Howard County, the daughter of Glen and Tempa (Bryan) Warnock. She married C. Melvin Young on Sept. 15, 1940, at Converse Christian Church. They shared 66 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death Oct. 23, 2006.
Betty graduated from Jackson Township High School. She was involved in 4-H for 10 years and was a member of Greentown Eastern Star for 50 years. She was also a member of Macedonia Christian Church.
She enjoyed helping out on the farm when she was needed and loved to play golf, as well as doing craft projects. She also enjoyed baking special treats for her grandchildren.
Betty worked at JC Penney for 16 years. After retiring, she and Melvin enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Naples, Florida, for 25 years.
She is survived by one son, Kent and Melinda Young, Greentown; daughters, Patricia and Bill Rosa and Sandra and Robin Riggs, Greentown; 10 grandchildren, Zachary and (Rosie) Young, Trevor and (Ashley) Young, Connor Young, Scott Rosa, April and (Kurt) Akers, Amanda and (Jeremy) Robinson, Lindsay and (Chad) McKnight, Adam Riggs, Brandi and (Justin) Williams, Hope Gilbert; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Gaynelle Smith; a brother, Robert Warnock; and a daughter, Annette Lowe.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Christian Church, 1532 S. 500 East, Kokomo, with John Piotrowicz officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
