Betty Jean Myers, age 91, of Kokomo, died at 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2018, at Golden Living Center in Kokomo. She was born March 4, 1927, in Torrent, Kentucky, to Noah and Ruth (Townsend) Chapman. She married Kelton L. Myers on Dec. 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2014.
Betty was a homemaker and beautician; she owned and operated High Style Beauty Shop in Bunker Hill for many years and also worked for Golightly's in Kokomo. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bunker Hill and enjoyed puzzles, ballroom dancing, camping and traveling to Florida and Arizona with her husband.
Surviving family include her two sons, Terrell (Connie) Myers, Kokomo, and Craig (Sharon) Myers, Peru, Indiana. She is also survived by two grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and sisters, Jenny, Roxanne and Sue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ferrell, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with the Rev. Dr. Phil Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Rankin Cemetery in Peru. Visitation will be held from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
