Betty R. Malson, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center, Kokomo. She was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Rockford, Illinois, to Charles and Alice (Tresemer) Harder. On Sept. 8, 1962, she married John S. "Jack" Malson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he survives.
Betty graduated from Muldoon High School in Rockford, Illinois, in 1955. She worked for General Motors in Milwaukee and in the Haworth High School Bookstore. She was secretary of the Kokomo Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Kokomo Bowling Hall of Fame in 1989. She had a love for quilting and sewing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mark (Diane) Malson, Rossville, Margarete (Roger) Ortman, Westfield, and Craig (Cindy) Malson, Tipton; grandchildren, Cassy, Colby and Cayleigh Malson, Tipton, and Julia and Sammie Malson, Rossville; brother, Chuck (Nancy) Harder; and sisters, Judy Johnson and Theresa (Merle) Menso.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, with the Rev. Father Matthew Arbuckle the celebrant. Private burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with a rosary service at 9:45 a.m.
