Betty Lou's Story

Text size

Betty Lou (Poage) Denham passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017. She was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Danville, to Howard and Nora Poage. She is now reunited with her husband, Harry M. Denham, in heaven. We know her heart was broken at Dad's unexpected passing in May, and it brings us peace to know they are now together again.
She was a wonderful mom to her four kids and known as "Mom" to many others. She was a room mother at school, a band mom and always put her family first. She followed Dad wherever he wanted to go. Sometimes that involved airports, fly-ins and the pole barn. She was a pro at making chili for the annual fly-ins at Weed Field. The kitchen table always had room for another chair, as she was a great cook. After the kids were grown, she worked at Kroger in the floral department for many years and enjoyed creating flower arrangements for customers. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
She was especially proud of her grandchildren (Michelle, Jennifer and Harley) and delighted in her great-grandchildren (Aubrey, Adele and Ayla).
She is survived by sons, Harry Jr. (Marie), Matt (Carla), Dwight (Aida); daughter, Karen (Greg); grandson, Harley Denham; granddaughters, Michelle Hudson (Gabe) and Jennifer Denham; great-granddaughters, Adele, Ayla and Aubrey Hudson. She is also survived by sisters, Marj Adamson and Mildred Fry.
Sisters Mabel Fry and Geneva Williams predeceased her.
We want to thank the nurses and staff at Miller's Merry Manor and Premiere Hospice for their loving care of Mom.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 22, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenny Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
