Betty's Story

Betty Sue Kesterson, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at her home. She was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Amon and Etta Sue (Wiley) Denton. On July 16, 1955, at Oakland Christian Church in Russiaville, she married James W. Kesterson, who survives.
Betty was a 1954 graduate of Burlington High School. Betty served her family as a loving mother, devoted wife, and grandmother. She had worked as a receptionist for Star Financial Bank, employed by Woody's Convenience Store and the Webb Hallmark Store. She was a member of Center Road Church of Christ. Betty loved the time she spent with her grandchildren, going to their sporting events, and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and shopping.
Along with her husband, James, Betty is survived by her children, Diana TenBrook, Melinda Kesterson, and Jim (Karen) Kesterson; grandchildren, Mariah Kesterson, Emily Kesterson, and Bryce Kesterson; brother, Robert (Peggy) Denton; and nieces and nephews, Bobby (Kathy) Denton, Terry (Karen) Denton, Jennifer (Kirk) Paprocki, and Suzanne Denmark.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to the Southern Care Hospice staff, Rita, Teri, Beth, and Brittany for the love, care, and compassion they gave Betty during her illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Center Road Church of Christ, 899 W. 300 South, Kokomo, with Pastor Lynn Brust officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
