Betty Jean Elson, 92, Kokomo, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2017. She was born Nov. 5, 1924, to the late John and Ethel (Woolridge) Fernung.
Betty was married to Karl R. Elson in 1944 and worked for over 40 years at Delco as a factory worker. She was easy to please and loved spending time with her family, cooking, reading anything her family passed on to her, and dogs. She enjoyed listening to country music and gospel hymns.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest Fernung, Andrew Fernung, and Lloyd Fernung; sisters, Nora Julian, Ellen Stewart, and Rosemary Strawback; and son-in-law, Gerald Garrison.
She is survived by daughter, Rose Ann Garrison; grandchildren, Ann (John) Higgins, Johnathan (Justin) Garrison, Julie (Matt) Zeigler, Jeff (Aimee), Garrison; great-grandchildren, Micah Higgins, Jacob Zeigler, Malachi Higgins, Kaylyn Zeigler, Hannah Zeigler, Millie Higgins, and Leah Zeigler. Betty was well loved by many nieces and nephews, as well.
Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Sunset Memorial Garden Funeral Home, with a service at 1 p.m.
