Bessie Heathcoat, 91, is safe in the arms of JESUS! Hallelujah! Bessie left her earthly body to begin her eternal life Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Westfield Long Term Care.
Bessie retired from GM Kokomo after 30 years of service. She loved to bowl and did so for over 50 years. She was an avid baseball fan and attended little league and American Legion games often.
Bessie's greatest accomplishments were that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She fiercely supported her family with love and care. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, James Heathcoat, and her dear daughter-in-law, Dorothy Heathcoat, and many brothers and sisters.
Bessie is survived by one son, Steve Heathcoat and Andrea, his wife; and daughter, Brenda Canfield and her husband, Kevin. Two sisters also survive her, Alice Davis, Kokomo, and Shirley Monroe, Washington state. Four grandchildren and their spouses are Craig and Leigh Ann Heathcoat, Kevin and Cameron Heathcoat, Stacey and Steven Russell and Paige and Robin Grunnagle. She also has seven surviving great-grandchildren, Titus, Violet, Tabitha Joy, Abraham, Fitz, Stella and Herrington.
A public visitation for Bessie will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following. Bessie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. To leave condolences, please visit www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
