Today, the Lord received another angel. Barry Garrett, 65, formerly of Kokomo, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in Lake Wales, Florida. He was born Aug. 5, 1952, in Chicago, Ill.
He was a strong, proud man, whom everyone loved. He also was a man who worked hard for everything he had. He was a member of the Kokomo Shifters Club and made a lot of friends through racing. He had worked as an auto body repairman and enjoyed racing of all kinds. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Garrett; a daughter, Mariann (John Edwards) Garret and her children, Garrett, Danica, Kenzley and John; a son, Chris (Amber Mathews) Garrett and his daughter Kaylee; son, Nick (Abbey) Garrett; son, Barry Garrett II and his daughter, Ashley Garrett; stepsisters, Yvonne Schapson and Diana Coomer; and brothers, Denny Garrett and Richard Chaplin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Chaplin; stepfather, Dave Chaplin; father, Clearance Garrett; and brother, Davey Chaplin.
