Allie Clymer, 92, Peru, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru. She was born in Wadesville, Indiana, on Jan. 28, 1925, the daughter of Loren and Lucy Holland Engelbright. Allie married Ralph Clymer in New Harmony, Indiana, on April 4, 1946, and he preceded her in death Nov. 29, 2010.
Allie graduated from Purdue University in 1945 and she was a Phi Beta Kappa and taught in numerous Indiana school systems for more than 35 years, retiring as a home economics teacher at the Peru Junior High in 1985. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority and the Round Robin Bridge Club.
Surviving are her daughters, Janet Lee Clymer, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Debbie Clymer, Sequim, Washington; a son, Daniel D. Clymer, Peru; grandchildren, Kyle Parish and Katie Parish; a brother, Loren D. Engelbright, Coral Gables, Florida, and a sister, Sue Price, Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph, and a sister-in-law, Milly McGuire.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Allie Clymer will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 81 W. Main St., Peru, with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers. The family requests memorial donations be made to Main Street United Methodist Church.
